Computing

Believe ~ Grow ~ Flourish

“Jesus came to give us life, life in all its fullness”

Our school understands the immense value technology plays not only in supporting the Computing and whole school curriculum but overall in the day-to-day life of our school. We believe that technology can provide: enhanced collaborative learning opportunities; better engagement of pupils; easier access to rich content; support conceptual understanding of new concepts and can support the needs of all our pupils. Online safety has a high profile at our school for all stakeholders. We ensure this profile is maintained and that pupil needs are met through our Computing curriculum and other curriculum areas.

As a school, we have chosen the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of Work from Reception to Year 6. The scheme of work supports our teachers in delivering fun and engaging lessons which help to raise standards and allow all pupils to achieve to their full potential. We are confident that the scheme of work more than adequately meets the national vision for Computing. It provides immense flexibility, strong cross-curricular links and integrates perfectly with the 2Simple Computing Assessment Tool. Furthermore, it gives excellent supporting material for less confident teachers.

Technology is ever evolving and used in almost all areas of our everyday lives. We want to help to create children who are confident and resilient in using various forms of technology safely. Through learning about the different areas of computing and online safety, we aim to create children who are globally responsible digital citizens that are able to become active participants in the digital world. Pupils will secure an understanding of how to use technology in different ways as well as learning how to stay safe and make the right choices online. We aim to give children the necessary skills to keep themselves safe online through teaching various online safety themes each term. Children have a right to access safe online spaces and benefit from the opportunities that a connected world can bring them. Children have the opportunity to build their online safety knowledge through activities planned from Purple Mash and our PSHE scheme.
